Commissioned for a prestigious private sculpture collection outside Mexico City, the mythical Minotaur half man/hall bull monster is approximately 10 feet tall, 13 feet deep, and 9.5 feet wide and weights about 1.2 tons.
The sculptor, Andy Scott, fabricated the piece at his studios - starting in Glasgow, Scotland and finishing in Philadelphia. The Minotaur took around 10 months to create, as it was sculpted by hand and eye, without the use of a computer. Once finished, it was hot-dip galvanized and then painted a bronze metallic.
Scott utilizes galvanized steel in all of his sculptures due to its coating durability. He has designed hot-dip galvanized sculptures all over the world - London, Australia, Scotland, Aberdeen, and the latest for this private collection in Mexico City.
